Letâs escort Terry Manning into town July 27th!
Terry Manning, 69 and a self-described âtough old fartâ, is about halfway across the continent on a fundraiser for the Guelph General Hospital (you know, the place that heals you after crashing). So far, he has raised half of his $60,000 goal. http://terrystour2k13.wordpress.com/
He arrives in his home town, Guelph, Saturday July 27 in the afternoon (estimated 3:30PM). The club is coordinating a âLead Out Trainâ of riders in Speed River Cycling Club kit (this is a non-club ride) to escort him from Elmira into Guelph, ending at Guelph General Hospital Emergency entrance for refreshments.
If you want to join in to support Terry and your hospital, just let me know at jimwadleigh@rogers.com. I will contact you with final details next week. Probably take from 1PM to 4PM to get it done if you ride to Elmira and back, less if you take a taxi over.
Letâs show our strength as a club and get some publicity for SRCC and Terry.
Questions? Same email.

RIDE WITH TERRY. Reminder that there’s a relaxed (23kph)ride from Elmira to Guelph JULY 27 (Saturday) afternoon as Terry Manning rides into home town Guelph, over halfway to his destination on the east coast. The ride will end at Guelph General Hospital, and coming down Delhi Street, we will form a “leadout train” with media coverage for Terry (and it won’t hurt the Clubs visibility if we wear SRCC kit, but that’s not mandatory).
I NEED NUMBERS to plan the ride, the snacks, water and media. If you will PROBABLY be there, send a note to jimwadleigh@rogers.com so that we can keep in touch for last minute details.
Reminder about the relaxed ride from Elmira to Guelph in support of a guy who has been on the road for a month to help his community. See http://terrystour2k13.wordpress.com/
Terry averages about 23kph. We will plan a rural route that is quiet and safe, get some pictures taken as we ride up to the Guelph General Hospital in SRCC kit. Free drinks, and cool, perfect riding weather has been ordered.
