Monday Rec Ride
From the serious racer to the recreational rider, this is a terrific way to start off your week. Whether “Rec” means recreational or recovery to you, it’s all about a fun, relaxed time.
The Bare Essentials
What is it? A recreational group ride using the same route each week. Getting to meet new members and others for a social ride.
What’s it about? It is another evening in the week for everyone in the club to ride – improving group riding skills for some and active recovery for others. Groups will ride in a paceline gaining saddle time, skills, improved fitness and experience on familiar roads. This will be a no-drop ride, and depending on attendance, there may one or more groups.
Meet: Flow State Bike Co., 599 Arkell Rd, parking lot in Arkell.
Time: Be ready to pedal at 6:30 PM May-Aug (6:00 PM early & late season). Meet 10 minutes before the start to get organized.
Parking: At the Calvary Baptist Church, 454 Arkell Rd or at the church across the street from Flow State, Arkell United Church, 600 Arkell Rd.
Route: The route will be the same each week. This allows you to monitor your fitness, and watch out for signs of over training.
How it will work: Gather at the Flow State parking lot. The Ride Leader(s) will give a quick introduction and lead the group(s) out.
Who: You MUST be a GCC member or an approved Try-a-Rider to attend. You must pre-register for the ride on the signup form on the website.

Active Recovery
Active recovery is a low-intensity exercise performed after a strenuous workout that can significantly enhance a cyclist’s training and overall well-being. It involves gentle, relaxed bike rides at a pace that allows for comfortable conversation, rather than complete rest. The benefits include reduced muscle soreness, enhanced muscle repair, metabolic efficiency and mental refreshment. Helping you recover from the weekend and prepare for Tuesday.
