Youth and Junior cycling sessions are instructed by certified coaches who are also some of the best athletes in Canada. Our coaching roster includes current and former professional athletes and national team members.
Coached sessions are available in three disciplines: mountain biking, road cycling and cyclocross.
Mountain Biking
Youth (Ages 10-13) & Junior (Ages 14-18)
Session Focus: Fundamental to intermediate mountain biking skills
Date & Time: Wednesdays 6:15-7:30PM, May to August. Tentative Start: May 8th
Location: GORBA Trails at Guelph Lake
Equipment: Riders will require a mechanically sound bike capable of riding off-road, bike helmet, appropriate footwear and apparel for weather conditions and water bottle or other nutrition.
Ability: At a minimum, athletes should have the ability to ride on smooth, level terrain and control the bike safely (stopping and turning).
Road Cycling
Junior (Ages 14-18)
Session Focus: Intermediate to advanced road cycling skill and fitness intended to bridge to the “All Members” Thursday Coached Road Sessions.
Date & Time: Thursdays 6:00-8:00PM, May to August. Tentative Start: May 30th
Location: Guelph-area roads / closed circuit at Flamboro Speedway
Equipment: Riders will require a mechanically sound bike with drop bars, bike helmet, appropriate footwear and apparel for weather conditions and water bottle or other nutrition. Clipless shoes + pedals are highly recommended.
Ability: R3-5, at a minimum, riders should have the ability to ride for 1 hour at 30-32km/h with a group.
Cyclocross
Youth (Ages 10-13) & Junior (Ages 14-18)
Session Focus: Fundamental to intermediate cyclocross skills
Date & Time: Thursdays 6:00-7:00PM, September & October. Tentative Start: September 5th
Location: Centennial Park
Equipment: Riders will require a mechanically sound bike capable of riding off-road, bike helmet, appropriate footwear and apparel for weather conditions and water bottle or other nutrition.
