Try-A-Ride
The GCC Try-A-Ride program is closed for the rest of the 2024 season. Welcome back in 2025!
Want to see what we’re about before you commit to joining the club?
That sounds reasonable!
Cyclists are welcome to try a GCC group ride once per season before becoming a member (from May 6 through July 11, 2024)
This experience is for cyclists looking to see if Group Riding and the Guelph Cycling Club are right for them. Please be aware that GCC is not intended (nor appropriate) for novice riders.
If you are interested in a Try-A-Ride with the Club, please contact our Ride coordinator, Meg, by clicking here and provide a brief description of your riding capability/experience and which ride date you hope to attend. We recommend you attend a Tuesday night ride to get the most typical GCC experience. If you are new to group riding, we require that you attend a Learn-to-Group-Ride session first.
Criteria to attend:
- You should have reasonable riding experience and fitness and can ride for 45 km non-stop at 24 km/h speed or greater.
- You must wear a good quality helmet.
- A ‘drop-bar’ road or gravel bicycle is preferred.
- Please review the Safety & Responsibilities, Group Riding Skills , Social Paceline and Risk Management sections on our website prior to attending the ride.
- You must receive approval from GCC before attending the ride.
- You must sign and date the GCC Try-A-Ride Waiver and return it here by noon of the day of the ride.
- If you have been asked to attend the Learn to Group Ride session, please be sure to do that before your official Try-a-Ride date.. If you have been approved to skip the LTGR, please arrive 10 minutes early and identify yourself to the Ride Leader of the group you will be riding with. Provide confirmation that your signed waiver has been received.
