Speed Categories

*The Women Only Ride was a new category last year and the women leading it will establish the speed averages as the year progresses.

If you have concerns about speed categories and your abilities, come out on Tuesday evening to the TAM Ride and you can try any speed*. You will figure it out pretty quick by moving up or down in the groups. Also speak with any of our Ride Leaders, they will be glad to help.
*Please note, however that we do require new members to attend a Learn-to-Group Ride training session before joining a regular ride, unless they can demonstrate to a Ride Leader that they already have sufficient group riding skills.

Tuesday All Members Ride

NOTE WELL:
We have adjusted the ‘Speed Group’ numbers to accommodate a new Speed Group and to meet the requests to make all speed groups into 2kph increments. The Speed Group numbering system was introduced in the 2022 season. We have given the 2022 numbers in the charts to aid with the transition. Please remember that all the speed groups in the TAM Ride are ‘drop’ rides except R8.

Wednesday Evening

This is the second year of this ride and the women running it will establish the speed averages as the year progresses. The number of riders showing up and their abilities will determine the number of speed groups. The plan is to run this ride the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month. However, popularity may see more dates added. There are some truly awesome women helping out with this ride!
Speeds will be the same as the weekend Gravel Ride but the routes will be shorter to get everyone home in time for sunset. The number of riders showing up and their abilities will determine the number of speed groups. This ride will run the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Thursday Evening

These are the top speed groups in the club. R5 is not a ‘drop’ ride.
R6 & R7 are ‘drop’ groups. The Intermediate group have their own Ride Leader and will not be riding the same route as the Advanced Ride.

Sunday Morning

The Tour ride is a medium distance road ride for riders who need to be home by lunch. The Grand Tour is for riders looking for a few more kms before their Sunday nap. Speed averages for each group are a blend of two regular weekly speed groups because of the longer distances.
G1 is a very quick and athletic gravel ride. The G2 gravel ride is aimed at riders looking to build endurance at a moderate speed with enough time to notice the scenery. G3 is for riders wanting a more relaxed pace. All ride the same route.
