Thursday Intermediate Road Ride | May 16 6:30PM

While the early-season club riding has been pretty good thus far, I don’t think I’ve been on a route that take us up the Col du Watson. Apparently, a section of Watson Road is going to be closed for a good portion of the summer while they repave it and while that’s ultimately a good thing – some serious Canadian cobbles along there right now – it means the Col will not be available to test legs and burn lungs for a few months. Might as well take a crack at it while we can.

Except I won’t be there to climb it this time, either. It’s my kid’s 18th birthday and while I’m willing to prioritize riding over many, many, many things, a milestone progeny b-day isn’t one of them. You’ll be shepherded by some of the regulars, Meg and Darren. Feel free to curse me on the climb, though.

You can load the route on your bike computer if you have one, as it’s always good to know where you’re going. Here’s how. Bringing lights is always a good idea, especially with the 6:30 starts.

And as a reminder, some Speed Groups may have to be combined depending on rider turnout. It’s nice to meet new people.
