It’s the final day of what was a pretty crappy May, all things considered. However, we’re going out on a high note, with very comfortable temperatures but strong winds from the NW. I’m a big fan of doing all the hard wind-facing work at the beginning, so we can reap the benefits of a strong tailwind for the last half. This means we’re going to point our wheels toward the lightly-ridden area near Conestogo Lake. We’ll curse our ways to just south of the lake, then make a sweeping turn into what had BETTER BE a strong tailwind into Elmira. We’ll find a place for some coffee and nibbles before making our way back home.
The shorter version cuts out a lot of the northwest portion of the ride, breaking off at Middlebrook Road. At just under 70k, there won’t be a rest stop. For the rest of us, bring money for a coffee stop and tail lights are a good idea.
