Well, we froze last Wednesday…
A little longer distance this week at 50K to downtown or 41K to the official finish in Arkel. The usual requirements, fun loving attitudes, membership cards and lights are always a good idea. Be sure to check out the Safety and Skills page and General Ride Info. Expect that we may split into two groups if the warm weather brings out many riders. Usually we try to do a slightly faster and/or more experienced group followed by a slightly slower and/or less experienced group. Some really great long time club members will be joining us tonight and providing a bit of extra help where needed. We look forward to a good safe ride and seeing everyone. Summertime in May.

Thursday B Ride | May 11th 6:30 PM
52K for a targeted 32 kph average. A few hills. A chilly 10 degrees with a bit of wind predicted. Booties and warm gloves recommended. Hopefully we’ll be joined by some of the new members who have been getting all the good weather on Wednesdays. We’ll be venturing east circumnavigating metropolitan Eden Mills but cutting through downtown Corwhin – tongue firmly in cheek. Looking forward to a great ride. Watch here for a final decision in case of rain cancellation by 5:30 PM.
Social Ride | Wed April 26th 6:00pm
The weather is looking great! A nice serpentine eastern route and easy pace is in store. Remember to check out the Group Ride Guidelines. Be ready to ride for 6. Lights are always a good idea and membership cards too. Spring is in the air (and swamps) – listen for the Spring Peepers on the route.
Wed Relaxed Ride April 12th 6:00pm
The ride is on! No rain, but a bit on the cool side – dress appropriately. We have a nice route, short-ish distance and easy pace planned for this early season ride. Be ready to ride promptly at 6. Lights are always a good idea. Bring your membership card.
Wednesday Ride | Aug 31st 6PM
Second last Wednesday Ride of 2016! Earlier start.
I heard there was a Wednesday ride,
That Leonard mentioned and it gave me pride,
But you don’t believe in rhyming here, now do ya?
It goes like this: The fourth, the fifth,
A minor descent with a major lift,
Using both front rings compelling, “Hallelujah!”
Halleluja… (repeat)
Bring your lights! (apologies where necessary).
Sunday Medium Ride | Aug 14th 9:00 AM
The corn is high and the peaches are ripe. It’s hot and humid and the cicadas are singing… August in Ontario.
Some things are quintessential, like this 76 km Fergus-Elora Sunday morning coffee loop. And we’ll be crossing the covered bridge at West Montrose (someone please open a cafe here!). EC is currently predicting 19 degrees at 9:00 AM with the LOP (likelihood of precipitation) being ‘Low’ and a light wind from the NW at 10 kph. After a cooler night’s rest this will be a great ride that gets you home in time for lunch.
See you soon!
Wednesday Ride | July 27th 6:30 PM
Ride is on! Looks like another nice evening after a warm day with temperatures dropping later on. The route takes us south and west through Hespler. EC says gentle west wind with a ‘low’ potential for rain at 8:00. A great weather web site to see what’s coming is one for radar over Michigan. Drivers may consider parking near the University Arboretum and ride to the start at Watson Library. This will shorten your return to your car. Hope you can join us!
Wednesday Ride | July 20th 6:30 PM
It’s looking like a nice evening for a leisurely ride up north and west through Ariss and Mary Hill. EC says we’ll have a gentle wind at our backs for the ride home. Hope you can join us!
Sunday July 10, Medium ride 9:00am
Medium Ride is a beautiful 80 km circumference tour of our area. The weather is looking tremendous and you’ll be home in time for lunch before the day begins to heat up. We end in DT Guelph with the wind at our backs. Hope to see you out.
CANCELLED! Wednesday Ride | June 15 6:30 PM
CANCELLED! The temperatures are looking great, but the satellite and radar images are not good. See you next time.
Wednesday Ride | May 18 6:30 PM
Yet another beautiful evening for a ride! Southeastern 42 km route from the Library back to Arkel – add another 8 to SRB. Sunset is 8:41 PM – bring lights just the same. Click here for info on SRCC Group Ride Guidelines and here for info on The Social Paceline. And for those new to group riding show up at 5:55 PM for the Group Ride Orientation Clinic. We’ll work on good communication up and down the line – no shortage of sand and other road hazards out there still. Don’t forget your 2016 membership card. See you soon!
Sunday May 1st Medium Ride CANCELLED
Ride Cancelled.
Rain, wet roads and cool, damp unpleasantness this morning. Looking more promising this afternoon for an unofficial ride.
This 70 km loop pleasantly meanders its way towards Hespler and through Puslinch. A brief snack and pee break will be accommodated at the Sunset Villa Restaurant in Crief – bring your own snack, I don’t think the restaurant will be open when we stop there.
April 13-Wednesday Ride: 6pm
Spring is finally springing and your bike has been patient – it’s time to get out there! Much warmer than yesterday, but still bundle worthy. We’ll do a nice, easy 37 km that’ll have us home in time for dinner and before the street lights come on. Don’t forget your 2016 membership card; good to have lights on the bike too. Please be sure to read over the Group Ride Guidelines and the explanation of The Social Paceline. Looking forward to seeing you.
Sept 2nd Wednesday Ride | 6:00pm Start
Electrolytes people, it’s a warm one. A nice 43.8 km route (a version of a variation). A slightly shorter ride to match the shorter day. We’ll head north up Watson, through Oustic back on 6th and 20th to 29 south. A small stretch of hard-pack on side road 10 makes sure we get home with the light. Speaking of lights… Sunset: 7:58
Wednesday Ride Aug 12 | 6:30pm
We’ll be heading north and west up through Maryhill. The forecast is promising good weather and a tail wind for the ride back to town. A good length route for a 28 kph average with a couple of single file sections and the sun setting at 8:32 (ackk!). Tail lights please. You’ll be home, fed and showered in time to get out and see the Persied meteor showers later this evening.
