Medium Ride Sunday July 29, 9:00am

This 76 km Fergus-Elora coffee run should get us home by lunch and before any threat of rain. We’ll be crossing the covered bridge at West Montrose (someone please open a cafe here!). A cool Saturday evening should make for a perfect start as the day warm towards noon. Bring a little money for the cafe in Elora. See you soon.

Wednesday Relaxed Ride | May 16, 6:30PM

A slightly longer distance this week at 48K to Downtown or 39K to the official finish in Arkel. We’ll continue working towards great communication up and down the double pace line and a steady level of effort – moderate on the flats, slow up the hills and fast down them. We will build to an average 28 kph max and work together to bring everyone along. And please remember the African proverb: If you want to far, we go together. If you want to go fast, come out and try the Tuesday and Thursday rides! 😀 Please bring the usual requirements: fun loving attitudes and lights. Also, check out the Safety and Skills page and General Ride Info and select ‘Wednesday’ from the side bar. Expect that we may split into two groups if the warm weather brings out many riders. We try to do a slightly faster and/or more experienced group followed by a slightly slower and/or less experienced group as we did last week. Looking forward to a good safe ride and seeing everyone. Summertime in May.

Wed May 9 Relaxed Ride 6:30 PM

Yet another beautiful evening for a ride! Southeastern 42 km route from the Library back to Arkel – add another 8 to City Centre. Sunset is 8:31 PM – bring lights just the same. Click here for info on SRCC Group Ride Guidelines and here for info on The Social Paceline. And for those new to group riding show up at 6:15 for Group Riding Orientation . Tonight we’ll work on pace and communication up and down the line – no shortage of sand and other road hazards out there still!

Wednesday Relaxed Ride | August 23rd 6:00 PM

This ride is 45 kms of familiar stomping grounds – an array of gentle rollers with a final kick in the pants before the home stretch. We’ll start with a quick tour through downtown Eden Mills, then snake through, and keep off of, all the fresh gravel. The plan is to be home before dark. Bring lights just in case. BTW – this is my last ‘ride lead’ of the season and my last club ride until October. It’s been great riding with you and a great (albeit quick) season! Hope to see you soon.

PS Question: How many bike mechanics does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: (ask me on the ride)

Sunday Medium Ride | August 20th, 9:00AM

You’ll be home by lunch with this nice 76 km CCW Fergus, Elora, West Montrose and Maryhill loop with no Middlebrook boneshaker! Bring a little cash and we’ll stop in Elora for coffee and fancy ice cream (if anyone wants one). The weather is looking fantastic! Looking forward to seeing you.

Wednesday Relaxed Ride – August 16th 6:30 PM

And now for something completely different…
A gentle rolling 46 km route through some favourite areas to match the shortening mid August days. Forestell, Blackbridge, Chilligo all with a Paisley tie(in)- c’est bon! And a small section of dirt road… ever so wafer thin (to keep us honest). Bring lights just in case. See you soon.

Wednesday Ride | July 5th 2017

It’s looking like a fantastic July summer day! The Maryhill loop is our route. I overheard someone saying that we haven’t been north on a Wednesday yet… well, your wait is over. Ride officially ends at Victoria and Speedvale. Some single file riding may be necessary depending on traffic on Wellington Rd 51 and/or Marden Rd – we’ll make that call then. Bring lights just in case. See you all soon!

Sunday Medium Ride | May 21, 9:00AM

**RIDE IS CANCELLED** “Showers and risk of thunderstorms” – EC. “Sad” – DT. The plan is to do a CW loop around Morriston, then to Hespler for a halfway pit stop (bring a little cash) and then up towards Maryhill and back into Guelph from the north for an 80k jaunt. Wednesday Social Ride | May 17, 6:30PM

Well, we froze last Wednesday…
A little longer distance this week at 50K to downtown or 41K to the official finish in Arkel. The usual requirements, fun loving attitudes, membership cards and lights are always a good idea. Be sure to check out the Safety and Skills page and General Ride Info. Expect that we may split into two groups if the warm weather brings out many riders. Usually we try to do a slightly faster and/or more experienced group followed by a slightly slower and/or less experienced group. Some really great long time club members will be joining us tonight and providing a bit of extra help where needed. We look forward to a good safe ride and seeing everyone. Summertime in May.

Thursday B Ride | May 11th 6:30 PM

52K for a targeted 32 kph average. A few hills. A chilly 10 degrees with a bit of wind predicted. Booties and warm gloves recommended. Hopefully we’ll be joined by some of the new members who have been getting all the good weather on Wednesdays. We’ll be venturing east circumnavigating metropolitan Eden Mills but cutting through downtown Corwhin – tongue firmly in cheek. Looking forward to a great ride. Watch here for a final decision in case of rain cancellation by 5:30 PM.
