Tour over for the fantasy cycling league, it looks like Cory takes the yellow jersery. See everybody next year!
But finally the last thing Iâll say to the people who donât believe in cycling, the cynics and the sceptics. Iâm sorry for you. Iâm sorry that you canât dream big. Iâm sorry you donât believe in miracles , when they see something amazing like my win they cannot believe in it , My team name is chimera, not based on the mythological beast but rather this definition : an illusion or fabrication of the mind; especially : an unrealizable dream. Sometimes dream come true. Thanks Lance I dedicate this win to you.
… grits teeth… 😉
Yahoo I won I won,!!! I knew all along I was going to win, this is a win not just for me but for guys with mullets all across this country, and to all the all the other players, it was close and luck played a big factor in my win, I had some concerns with Beppino but contador dropped offand saved me. And finally to GC, my old nemisis i give to you my favourite Sean Connery quote ” 2 nd place is just first loser”. ..
Even with the Kittel win, Cory should win it, chapeau sir 🙂
Unless Cavendish crashes out, I think Cory should win the overall by around 100 points. So ya, congrats in advance Cory 🙂
It is really going to come down to thé wire tommorrow, With only à couple hundred points between thé top three it all comes down to who wins in Paris. my only hope is for cavendish…
Beppino is kicking ass, kudos to him. I think he’ll take the win with Contador.
Oh, just in case if anyone was wondering Beppino is my dad, if that’s alright that he contests. Sorry about that.
Yep I have finally been displaced, and with Beppina having Contador I am hoping for a podium spot. Was hoping that Kloden would win today!
Bad day for Cory, with Costa taking another win. I think the top 3 will still be close at the end!
Hmm I spoke too soon, as i am barely hanging onto the lead looks, like Adam will do well on the last day having both contador and froome.
Close one by Contador, but it’s just not to be. Anybody else see Peraud hit the deck, breaking his collarbone (the one he had just fractured in recon)? That must have been some kind of painful.
Yep, I actually rigged the Tour, made sure Valverde got an untimely puncture the other day just to take down Cory.
Btw, we’ve still not decided on prizing, Tim said he’d do it yesterday (I’m staying out of it).
Yes I think his scores are totally “normal” because I was beating him until today and I know for sure my scores are normal. I imagine we can put it down to lots of hard work and carefull planning, the small things like picking rui Costa made big differences overall.
Did GC mention first place gets a $500 gift certificate.?
Do you think GC’s high scores are “normal”?
I think it’s far from over! Three big mountain stages are going to shake things up again I’m sure. Costa did finally pay off though, was glad for that 🙂
Well GC you got your money out of Rui Costa today!
Looks like you are going to take the overall now, cant see anyone actually having a chance of beating you since your riders are first and third in the GC plus Sagan.
Well played and congrats on taking the podium today and the overall!
Well like I said anything can happen, valverde was my man, now 12 minutes down, hopefully a stage win for him now that he is out. GC moving up.
Wow, what a stage. Goodnight Valverde, maybe next year. Awesome tactics by OPQS, looked like Cavendish’s old days with Highroad.
Anything can happen? I certainly hope so! I guess this is what I get for not paying attention and starting one rider down.
Also, somebody should search the OGE bus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAl1-mBhFpU
Ouch! I just lost my week one star. Boasson Hagen out of the Tour with fractured right scapula.
Agreed Cory, the inevitable attacks should really shake things up on the weekend. Maybe see some breaks stick and stage wins for those out of the GC race.
Even though I am on the top of the podium again today there is still a long way to go to Paris and I am taking it day by day. Anything can happen in the tour…
It’s the truism that every point counts! Valverde saved me.
Damn you Cory, just by one point!
Tejay van Garderen has earned me all of 3 points so far. choke!
GC almost takes it!
Really thought Cav would be relegated today… will this launch Cory back into the lead?
lol It’s all hard work and preparation!
Well that was disappointing, I was watching online but decided to wait to watch it on tv only to find out they only show the last 10km, way to go tsn 2.. Martin got me a win but surprising many of you have him 🙁
NOT NORMAL Adam! 😉
Wow Adam does it again with the top two stage winners today which should give him a big lead!
Almost unbelievable gains Adam…
Obligatory for Jay:
“Finally, the last thing Iâll say to the people who donât believe in cycling, the cynics and the skeptics: I’m sorry for you. Iâm sorry that you canât dream big. I’m sorry you don’t believe in miracles. But this is one hell of a race. This is a great sporting event and you should stand around and believe it. You should believe in these athletes, and you should believe in these people. I’ll be a fan of the Tour de France for as long as I live. And there are no secrets â this is a hard sporting event and hard work wins it.” — Sir Lance Armstrong
LOL….ya I’m gonna call a huge NOT NORMAL on that one….nice try team Sky.
Bam, up into second. Mollema helped as well. Go Sky-train!
I humbly passed it to Adam yesterday, however it looks like the podium for me again today, and finally GC moving up with Porte as his second.
And Cory takes the lead! Saturday is a huge day and the five passes on Sunday should shake things up. James went back to get his glasses…
he may have sprinted off the front and missed a turn…
Is James k still on the ride or did he turn back?
good news is Andy has been dropped for the time being but that pesky Bayden is looking to get into a break…
I’m hot on Adams wheel!
Looks like Adam W. is hanging onto the lead now, Boasson Hagen coming through for him again today. Should be a sprinters game until Saturday… that`s going to be a stage not to miss!
Steve: It could be worth picking low costing riders who have a chance of getting assists for teammates that win stages, sprints, summits etc. or the top 20 way. I’d say going with a bunch of top 20 riders is better because assists are not really worth all that much, definitely not going to make or break a win. But who knows?
I was considering getting Kittel but decided he wouldn’t have a good chance of beating Sagan, Cav, Gripel or Goss, leave it up to a crash involving every sprinter except Kittel.. good job Andy!
A) I just had a feeling a bus might run into that gantry setting off an unlikely series of events favouring my sprinter.
B) Wait a second, he’s my only sprinter? Oops.
Andy off to a good start w/ Kittel…

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.
With so many different ways to score points it’s difficult to tell how the scoring system and individual cost of each rider interact. Does the scoring system favor having a few high priced riders mixed with a bunch of cheap riders (who likely will score very little)? Or a more balanced mix of mid-range riders all of whom could score points on any given stage? A podium contender vs a handful of top-20 prospects?
Giving it a try this year should make it easier to develop an advantageous strategy next year.
Good luck all!
Five teams signed up and counting. Re-upholstering my armchair for this one.
