These sessions are for you if you want to…
- Improve your bike handling to ride with more confidence.
- Boost your fitness so you can ride farther and faster.
- Learn and refine your tactics to move up the leaderboard.
Coached cycling sessions are instructed by qualified coaches and experienced athletes. The sessions are available exclusively for GCC members. We offer instruction in four disciplines: gravel, road, cyclocross and virtual (Zwift). See below for complete session details including: dates & times, session focus, targeted rider ability level, etc.
Note: Young riders are encouraged to participate in coached cycling sessions where appropriate based on ability and experience. We also offer dedicated youth (ages: 10-13 years old) and junior (ages: 14-18 years old) cycling programs. Please visit the Youth & Junior Cycling Programs for more into.
GRAVEL
Target Riders: Gravel Speed Groups G1 & G2
Session Focus: Intermediate to advanced gravel cycling skill and fitness. This is your ideal P2A prep! Details for each session will be posted on the Weekly Ride Posts.
Date & Time: Wednesday, April 3, 10, 17 & 24 at 6:00PM
Location: Various locations in Guelph.
Equipment: Gravel specific bike setup with drop bars, clipless pedals and appropriate tires.
ROAD
Target Riders: Road Speed Groups R1-3
Session Focus: Advanced road cycling skill and fitness. Details for each session will be posted on the Weekly Ride Posts.
Date & Time: Thursdays at 6:00PM, May through August. Tentative start: May 9th
Location: Various locations in Guelph and the Flamboro Speedway.
The Flamboro Speedway is a closed circuit (no cars!) that features a 500m oval and a technical course. The Speedway is located only 35km south of Guelph. It’s closer than the Milton velodrome! 873 Fifth Concession Rd W, Milgrove, ON.
Equipment: Road bike (drop bars) and clipless pedals.
CYCLOCROSS
Target Riders: All members!
Session Focus: Fundamental and Intermediate cyclocross skill and fitness. Details for each session will be posted on the Weekly Ride Posts.
Date & Time: Thursdays at 6:00PM, September & October. Tentative start: September 5th.
Location: W.E. Hamilton Park
Equipment: Any bike in good working order. A CX bike is great but not required, a gravel bike or MTB will do just fine.
VIRTUAL (ZWIFT)
Target Riders: Zwift Categories A, B & C. Approximately, Road Speed Groups R1-6.
Session Focus: Intermediate and advanced cycling fitness. Details for each session and a link to join will be posted in the “virtual-coached” channel of the GCC discord.
Date & Time: Thursdays at 6:30PM, November through March.
Equipment: Bike + trainer and operating device (phone, tablet, etc.) compatible with Zwift.
