‘Learn to Group Ride’ clinics now available

Enjoy the camaraderie and feeling of effortless speed that comes with a finely tuned group ride? Looking to ease into the dynamics of a large pack, without jumping head-first into one of the regular club rides?

Then this clinic is for you – available free of charge to all SRCC members as well as those on an OCA ‘Try-a-Ride’ waiver (see below).

We will be offering (to start) three ‘learn to group ride’ clinics, in a relaxed, no-stress atmosphere. There will be a handful of very experienced riders on hand to guide the group through the essentials of making group riding safe, easy, and FUN!

From our meeting spot we’ll do a short debrief (~10 minutes) then head out on a short course near Guelph Lake, gradually working towards riding as a cohesive group. This is NOT an intense workout or difficult ride – but we ask that you to have a road bicycle in good working order, and enough experience turning the pedals to hold roughly 25km/h for two or more hours, solo.

Try-a-Ride Program
The ‘Try-a-Ride’ program permits non-members to participate in one club ride per year, maximum, by completing the requisite OCA insurance waiver. Please indicate your intent to ‘try a ride’ when signing up for a group ride clinic (if applicable). We also ask that all participants meet the minimum fitness requirements of the entry-level, Wednesday ‘Social Ride’, i.e. “can ride for two hours non stop at a pace that averages 25 km/h or greater.”
