GRAVEL

The Gravel routes are designed to explore some of the best gravel south of Guelph, keeping close to the city but not crossing over the 401. Coffee stop (and bike parts!) at Flow State at 40 km – reservations have been made for 10:00am. The only difference between the short and long loops is the trip down Concession 11 (which may look boring but it is actually a very nice rolling bit of gravel road) – pick your distance below!

Sunday Road Tours | May 12 @ 9am

Mothers Day Road Tours!

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Rest stop baked goods are sweeeet!

and mom so are you!

With Sunday being Mothers Day, the road ride options are shorter in length and starting at 9am to provide more flexible afternoon time. The Grand Tour is 102k visiting Holtoms Bakery in Erin. The Tour is 70k with rest at the Whistle Stop in Rockwood.

I’ll be jealous if you have a pannier to carry home baked goods for mom 🙂

Tail lights are also always a good idea.

Load the route on your bike computer if you have one, here’s how.

PLEASE SIGN UP EARLY IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND! That way we can be confident if all formats of the ride will officially run.

All rides need a minimum of 3 members signed up in order to officially run. If a ride has the required number of riders, but no Group Captain riding with them, that group ride will be considered cancelled. The group can decide among themselves to hold an ‘unofficial’ ride and follow the route. All group riders take it upon themselves to know the route and are responsible for their own safety.

Ride groups will be:

CANCELLED – Sunday Road Tours | April 21 11:00AM

The weather is not looking great – cold and windy – and today’s road ride will be cancelled.

Hopefully the weather will behave and we get a road ride this Sunday. Right now, it’s showing as dry but cool and possibly a tad windy. The route will take us to Fergus then turn toward W. Montrose, where the shorter tours will head back towards home. The grand tour will continue toward Cambridge before returning to Guelph. There’s coffee options in Fergus and Elora.

Load the route on your bike computer if you have one, here’s how.

The format for our Sunday Road Tours will be a little different this year: 1 meet-up time, 3 separate ride groups, leaving at intervals, a Ride Leader or Group Captain with each group.

If a ride has the required number of riders, but no Group Captain riding with them, that group ride will be considered cancelled. Sunday Road Tours | May 14, 9:00AM

Dear mom,

Roses are red, violets are blue, I’m going for a ride, to celebrate you.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Sunday is shaping up to be a lovely day with low wind, a mix of sun and cloud and no precipitation. Seems like a perfect morning for a ride. Join us for a jaunt to Kitchener’s Woodfire Cafe, via Fergus, Elora and the covered bridge, before returning to Guelph and finishing up at Fixed Gear, where you can choose to raise a glass of craft brew to toast your mom!

Bring money for the coffee stop, and beer stop 😉 and tail lights are a good idea.

Load the route on your bike computer if you have one, here’s how.

CANCELLED – Sunday, July 11th Road Ride: 8am Start

Did I jinx it by calling it the “perfect day” in my post? Maybe. It doesn’t look like it will rain all day, but there’s a good chance that it will when we would be on the ride. Sit tight, watch le Tour, and get out there later in the day if you can.

Sunday is looking like the perfect day to get on your road bike! If you’re new to riding east of town, this ~110k route is for you. We’ll start through Limehouse, descend Olde Base Line next to the Cheltenham Badlands, go up the legendary Forks of the Credit climb, and poke our heads into Erin from a donut (or fritter) from the legendary Holtom’s bakery. My favourite!

The ride starts at 8am from the Library’s East Branch at Watson and Starwood. Bring enough food of your own to make it ~75km at a pace averaging around 30km/h until we get our bakery stop.

Sign up for Sunday’s road ride here: https://signup.com/go/nAudrjE

This ride is open to SRCC members only. If you have not signed up to be a club member, you can do so HERE.

Sunday September 6th, 8am Road Ride – 101k

This Sunday looks absolutely perfect for a long ride: little (forecasted) wind, sunny, nice and warm given that it’s September already!? When did that happen?

Let’s hope that the forecast comes true, and head out on some classic roads: the ride north of the Grand –featuring some fresh pavement on Middlebrook– is full of roads that SRCC riders have come to love. We’ll head north, then southeast along the river, and end with the West Montrose bridge and a nice, flat finish down Crowsfoot to bring it home. Perfect. See you there!

Start time: 8 AM

Start location: The Guelph East End Public Library. Plenty of parking for those arriving by car.

Check back here for weather cancellation announcement, it will be posted no less than one hour before the ride.

To join the ride, you will need to complete and submit the sign-up form, found HERE. All steps listed in the form MUST be completed.
