Sunday Gravel Ride | May 7, 9:00am

UPDATE: We have a new route due to the forecast. The weather system is moving in from the west and looking daunting, but exact timing is uncertain. We will employ the ‘Red October’ protocol of riding toward it, meeting it head on. This allows us to retreat in the dry when necessary. We might get the whole ride in, maybe only 10K. But we won’t know unless we try.

The planned Cafe stop will now be in Elmira.

Load the route on your bike computer if you have one, here’s how.

Disclaimer: Depending on rider turn out, some Speed Groups may have to be combined.

The Speed Groups on this ride are:

Advanced            G1        25-28   kph average

Intermediate     G2       23-25   kph average

Relaxed     G3       21-23   kph average

GCC members only. To become a member join HERE

Advance sign-up required. Reserve your spot by clicking HERE

Route: All Groups will follow this map:

Wednesday 08/25 – Social Ride, 6:00pm

Reminder – Rides have moved to a 6pm start.

Small chance of rain but fingers crossed. It will be very hot and humid so bring extra water. Final call regarding the weather will be made no later than 5:00pm.

We’ll ride some classic roads this week and as usual will have a slightly longer route for the A group and a slightly shorter route for the B and C groups to get everyone back with sufficient daylight to spare.

Note that the A route and the B/C route do go up different roads on the way back to Arkell so please have the route loaded.

Groups will aim for the following paces, especially in this heat:

Wednesday A: 28-30 km/h average
Wednesday B: 26-28 km/h average
Wednesday C: 24-26 km/h average

Please sign up in advance for the ride here.

Rides start at 6:00 PM from the East End Library at the corner of Starwood and Watson.

Wednesday A, B & C Rides April 17, 6:00PM

RIDE IS ON! New for 2019 are Three pace levels for Wednesday, check our new schedule for all the speed averages and descriptions. As usual, we will be starting at the East End Library. Be ready to pedal at 6:00 PM by the entrance doors, but please don’t block them. This time of year we have shorter distances due to the early sunset and a slightly shortened course for the C group – see the two maps below. And as it’s the beginning of the season please take a moment to read up on the Group Ride Guidelines as well as the Safety & Skills page. Are you new here? Then an extra special welcome to you and please be sure to read our New Member page. Bringing lights is always a good idea. Unfortunately, the weather conditions aren’t looking great at this point, (it is still very early) so be sure to check back for a cancellation update posted no later than 5:00 PM.

Club Work Night – Side Road 25 Corner Sweeping Wednesday April 3rd 6:30 PM

These corners are notorious for not being swept by the county and we end up tip-toeing through the sand all season. So lets all chip in before riding begins and make quick work of increasing our safety. Especially since this road is instrumental in our new ‘all member ride‘ Tuesday Interval Night (TIN). Grab (or borrow) a push broom and meet us at 6:30 PM at the corner of the 25th Side Road and Townline . This will go quickly with more hands on deck. What a great way to contribute to your club and sport (and kick off the season)! Looking forward to seeing you there!

Thursday A/B Ride | Aug 30th, 6:00PM

6:00 PM Start! Club Social at the Wooly 9:00 PM.
Late season fun!
Two rides, two routes, one small hilly difference – load accordingly! A wee shorter distance than last week with some new pavement on Victoria. EC says no chance of rain. Temperatures promise to be perfect. Only route difference is the ‘A’ group will continue south past Leslie and stuff a Col in between their Burgs – chamois butter may be required! Sunset is at 8:01 PM. Bring lights as usual. See you soon!

A Ride

B Ride

Thursday A/B Ride – Aug 2nd, 6:30pm

Weather Update 4:58 PM: Looks like we’re good to go at this point. See you soon.
Original Post:
Here’s a nice rolling route to the south and west of Guelph with some new pavement in a few places. Quite a few turns to remember so load this one into that thing that’s been cluttering up your bars for years – Garmin… not just for numbers anymore! You’ll figure it out, children do it everyday. The official finish will be at Hamilton Corners at the Volvo Garage at Gordon and Arkell Rds. A few will want to head back to the library on Arkell and Victoria Rds. and others can find there way home from Gordon St. Sunset 8:43, bring lights just in case. Check back here for final rain cancellation to be posted no later than 5:00 PM.

Social Ride – Wednesday Aug 1, 6:30 pm

Weather Update 4:55 PM: Ride is CANCELLED! Weather sites can’t seem to predict ‘pop up’ rain cells and we’ve just had one roll through with more on the way. Specifically to the south where we planned to go.
Original Post
We’ve had a few new members sign up this mid-season and this should be a great ride to welcome them along. It’s a nice light rolling route to the south and west of Guelph with some new pavement in a few places. We’ll continue working on great communication up and down the double pace line with a steady level of effort – moderate on the flats, slow up the hills and fast coming down. New members (and old) should check out the Safety and Skills page and General Ride Info and select ‘Wednesday’ from the side bar. The official finish will be at Hamilton corners at the Garage at Gordon and Arkell rd. Check back here for final rain cancellation to be posted no later than 5:00 PM. See you soon.

Medium Ride Sunday July 29, 9:00am

This 76 km Fergus-Elora coffee run should get us home by lunch and before any threat of rain. We’ll be crossing the covered bridge at West Montrose (someone please open a cafe here!). A cool Saturday evening should make for a perfect start as the day warm towards noon. Bring a little money for the cafe in Elora. See you soon.

Wednesday Relaxed Ride | May 16, 6:30PM

A slightly longer distance this week at 48K to Downtown or 39K to the official finish in Arkel. We’ll continue working towards great communication up and down the double pace line and a steady level of effort – moderate on the flats, slow up the hills and fast down them. We will build to an average 28 kph max and work together to bring everyone along. And please remember the African proverb: If you want to far, we go together. If you want to go fast, come out and try the Tuesday and Thursday rides! 😀 Please bring the usual requirements: fun loving attitudes and lights. Also, check out the Safety and Skills page and General Ride Info and select ‘Wednesday’ from the side bar. Expect that we may split into two groups if the warm weather brings out many riders. We try to do a slightly faster and/or more experienced group followed by a slightly slower and/or less experienced group as we did last week. Looking forward to a good safe ride and seeing everyone. Summertime in May.

May 12th Sunday Long l 9:00AM

Happy Mothers Day. It looks like we have awesome weather for those that are able to sneak away, we will head east up through Rockwood. Stop for nice coffee break in Belfountain after doing the Forks of the Credit climb. Then return through Erin, make sure to put on sunscreen.

Sunday Long l September 3rd 9:00am

Ride Cancelled: Storm cells are tracking to pour all over the ride. We will take in a lot of scenic roads as we head through Dundas and Ancaster. We will stop in for a bite to eat in Waterdown after tackling Sydenham Hill. The weather looks like it should be perfect for a long day in the saddle.
