Club Time Trial #4 – Wed August 21/13 – Final TT of season

The final TT of 2013!

This is the last chance of the season to test your fitness against the clock. Many PBs have been set this year, will the trend continue?

Time trials are a great way to test your fitness.  It is a race against yourself and the clock. Riders start at 1 minute intervals and the challenge is to try to catch the rider ahead of you and not to be caught by the rider behind you!  No drafting is allowed.

We use the same course for each of the 4 TT events allowing you to measure your training progression throughout the season.

The course is a 17km long out-and-back route on the rolling hills of Fourth Line East just north of County Road 51 (road to Ariss)

TIPS

  • maintain a steady power output and heart rate throughout the event
  • have a smooth, regular pedalling technique
  • position yourself to be extremely aerodynamic
  • discipline yourself to operate just below your anaerobic threshold until near the end of the course.

REMINDER

  • please exercise caution during the TT, especially at the turn around, as the roads are open and vehicles can be expected
  • please remember that while waiting for your start to not obstruct traffic
  • please remember to bring your club membership card.

Course Record:  Ryan Roth 21:54.05 – 46.57 km/hr  – July 24/13

Meeting Location:  Start Line – 4th Line East, just north of County Road 51 (road to Ariss)

Meeting Time:  Sign-in: 6:45pm, First rider start: 7:00pm

RESULTS

Another great night of TT performances to close out the 2013 Club TT Series!

Warmer than usual temperature, and stronger than usual winds, made for challenging conditions. But those in attendance stepped up and delivered 4 great rides, including a new Course Record and two Personal Best times.

  3. Gabhan Chalmers        25:46.68    39.57km/hr
  4. Adam Woods              26:54.64    37.90km/hr

Weather: 26 degrees, humidex 30, clear, winds SW 19km/hr, humidity 50%

Wednesday Night Ride – 7 Aug 6:30 PM

The ride is cancelled because of the weather warnings.  However, both Jim and I will be at the Bean at 6:30.  If you want to join us for an unofficial ride, please bring some rain gear (racing capes.)

Tough call to make.  The radar looks reasonable but there is a warning for severe thunderstorms.  I will make the call around 5:30 just to make sure we don't cancel too early or give the go ahead and find ourselves flooded.

Let's do the route proposed last week.  It has some nice quiet roads, and only a small section of hardpack on the way.  The weather does not look great but I will make the call by 5 PM.
