Sept 2nd Wednesday Ride | 6:00pm Start

Electrolytes people, it’s a warm one. A nice 43.8 km route (a version of a variation). A slightly shorter ride to match the shorter day. We’ll head north up Watson, through Oustic back on 6th and 20th to 29 south. A small stretch of hard-pack on side road 10 makes sure we get home with the light. Speaking of lights…      Sunset:   7:58

Sunday August 30th, medium ride 9:00 AM

Here is the route for the medium ride this Sunday. Nothing too innovative but the road on the North side of Belwood Lake is nice. For the short section of Road 18 just south of the Grand River we’ll go single file. Also, 7th line from 22nd to Everton is not improving with age so we’ll have to ride carefully on that section.

Aug 30th Sunday long ride | 9am

The last August club ride! A slight modification on the Orangeville-Belfountain loop. We’ll dodge onto a short section of the Elora Cataract trail through Erin (if you’ve never ridden it before, no worries, it’s really hard pack and flat). 129k total, let’s hope the forecast holds.

Sunday Medium Ride | August 23rd, 9:00 am

OK, I am unable to successfully operate a calendar and will not be leading the ride due to a schedule conflict. The route is popular and very nice. Some brave soul will have to assume the responsibility of ride leader that I have failed to uphold. Maryhill, Crowsfoot, the covered bridge and Elora. We (y’all) will stop for refueling in Elora.

Club Time Trial #4 – Wed Aug 19/15

UPDATE: Results posted below

The final TT of our 4 event time trial series is this week, with first rider starting at 7:00pm! This is a great opportunity to get some last minute TT practice in before the Provincial Championships this weekend.

Time trials are a great way to test your fitness.  It is a race against yourself and the clock. Riders start at 1 minute intervals and the challenge is to try to catch the rider ahead of you and not to be caught by the rider behind you!  No drafting is allowed.

We use the same course for each of the 4 TT events allowing you to measure your training progression throughout the season.

The course is a 17km long out-and-back route on the rolling hills of Fourth Line East just north of County Road 51 (road to Ariss)

TIPS

  • maintain a steady power output and heart rate throughout the event
  • have a smooth, regular pedalling technique
  • position yourself to be extremely aerodynamic
  • discipline yourself to operate just below your anaerobic threshold until near the end of the course.

REMINDER

  • please exercise caution during the TT, especially at the turn around, as the roads are open and vehicles can be expected
  • please remember that while waiting for your start to not obstruct traffic
  • please remember to bring your club membership card.

Course Record:  Ryan Roth 22:08.49 – 46.07 km/hr  – July 18/12
Meeting Location:  Start Line – 4th Line East, just north of County Road 51 (road to Ariss)
Meeting Time:  Sign-in: 6:45pm, First rider start: 7:00pm
