RIDE IS ON. The roads are surprisingly dry after the snow that we got, but the predicted temperature will be down around -2C. Be sure to bundle up. Please review the Tuesday B ride description, and don’t forget your membership card. Go away winter!

Sunday combined ride | April 3rd, 11AM start – CANCELLED
RIDE CANCELLED IN FAVOUR OF SHOVELLING AND X-COUNTRY SKIING! There will be many, better road riding days ahead, perhaps even this week. Check the ‘Events’ page for the complete ride schedule, and watch this space for official ride postings and confirmations.
In the meantime, here are some things to remember/review:
- all club rides meet at and launch from the East Side Library; please try to arrive 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start time
- rides are conducted as per the descriptions found on the ‘General Ride Information’ page
- all riders should be familiar with the SRCC group ride guidelines and safety/skills before joining a club ride
- all riders should be SRCC club members in good standing, with 2016 membership cards on hand (membership can be purchased here)
- ride routes will be posted in advance; all riders should familiarize with the planned route (or load it into your Garmin)
- lights are always a good idea, regardless of conditions and time of day
Sunday Combined ride: October 25, 11:00 am, Final club ride of the year!
Well just like that the season is done and Dusted, so Sunday will be done and Dundas.
We’ll stop in the lovely town for food, or you can do hill repeats if so inclined, after that we head up snake road and north into the wind for the final club ride of the year!
Sunday combined ride | October 18th, 11am start
Rider turnout has been dwindling, so once again running a single ‘take-all-comers’ ride this Sunday. The planned route offers several short-cut options for those not keen on the full 82k, and a hot beverage stop to counter the cool temps. The outlook is not great, but we’ll see how it evolves and I’ll post a ‘go/no-go’ by 10am Sunday morning.
Sunday Combined Long/Medium Ride | October 11 @ 11:00AM
A combined medium-long ride this Sunday. We’ll take in the beautiful fall colours, refuel at the Flying Monkey, and be back in time to cook the turkey. Or at least make the gravy.
Sunday October 4th Long ride: Note new start time of 11:00 AM
Heading somewhere a little different for a change. We’ll stop in Elmira for replenishing your body, it’ll be too late for your soul by this point… Just kidding should be a nice ride, lets hope the weather co-operates, if not watch here for a cancellation notice Sunday morning.
Please note the rides are now starting at 11:00 to allow the temperature to warm up.
Sunday Long Ride | Sunday September 20, 9:00am
Looking like beautiful riding weather on Sunday. What better way than to ride out to Belfountain and back! A twist on the usual route.
Sunday Medium Ride | September 20th, 9:00 am
OK, I seem to have acquired the skills to operate a calendar and will thus uphold my sworn duty as a ride leader. This will be a “Stroll Around the Lake”. Stop in Bellwood at the General Store for treats. They have amazing home made Butter Tarts!!!
Sunday long ride | September 13th, 9AM start
A local offering in place of the cancelled Niagara ride. We’ll keep to our usual, 9AM start from the library. There is no official ‘medium distance’ ride today, but the planned route offers several bail-out options… those looking for a shorter ride should feel free to plan their own shortcut and roll out with us.
Thursday B and A rides Sept 10 6:00 pm
Last Thursday ride of the year! Hard to believe summer is almost over and soon it will be time for indoor cycling, or not.
Watch the forum as there will likely be more informal weeknight rides going ahead for those who can make them.
Lights are not just a good idea tonight, it’s the law.
Cory
Wednesday Night Ride, September 9th, 6:00pm
44km route to get us home before dark. Bring your lights though.
Tuesday B: September 8, 6:00pm
Last Tuesday of the season. Lets keep the pace rolling and finish strong. Remember to bring lights.
Tuesday Hammerfest A | Tues Sept 8, 6:00pm
Final SRCC Tuesday Hammerfest. Let the fireworks begin! RIDE IS ON!. Remember your lights and the 6:00pm start!
Sunday September 6th medium ride
Alright, here it is – I’ll call this a convoluted ramble through the countryside. It looks like it’s going to be hot so bring lots of water! Note that we have a very short section on Road 7 (to Elora) so we’ll go single file there. That is followed immediately by a short section of gravel road but I’m pretty sure it’s smooth for easy riding.
Sept 6th Sunday long ride | 9am
We’ve not been to Paris this year, so let’s tick that box. A nice cafe stop around km-65, then head back through Cambridge. Fingers crossed for the forecast, but it should be a warm one either way.
Thursday September 3rd A&B rides : 6:00 PM
Update at 5:05 I think I’m gonna cancel this. It’s possible that things could dissipate this evening but It could also persist for the entire evening. Anybody who wants to ride in an unofficial ride – take a raincoat!
Update at 16:19 – Holy carp! The weather radar doesn’t look good at all. I’ll make the official call at 5 but it looks like the ride is going to be cancelled tonight
Here it is. I think all of these roads are clear of new chip-seal. If not, use caution. Don’t forget to bring your lights too!
