April 26 – Tuesday B Ride 6:00 pm (The Fast n’ Steady Fest)
RIDE IS ON! – Well the weather may be iffy (and chilly) but we’ll be spiffy (in our new club kit) as we come down Watson on our way through Puslinch. We’ll keep going West over to Hespler and turning back up to Guelph along Roszell/Laird Rd. Those wishing to can cut back to Guelph at Gordon or Victoria instead of going into Arkell.
April 26 – Tuesday A Ride 6:00 p.m. (The Hammerfest)
We’ll call this 6th Line Direct. The ride will shoot down to Campbellville, allow for some escapism on the ascent – or escapees – and straight back along 20th, over the berg, and boom, another one in the books. It might rain Tuesday so keep your eyes glued to your TV set. A call will be made by 5:00 p.m.
April 21st Thursday A/B ride | 6:00pm start
Radar is (pretty) clear… ride is ON.
Taking advantage of the longer evenings, we’ll head down to scenic Side Road 3. “A” group, knock yourselves out. The “B” group will work together at a 30-32 km/h pace. If it looks like rain, the call will be made at 5 pm.
April 20 – Wednesday Ride – 6:00 PM
[I made a slight change to the route to avoid gravel.] Spring is finally here – it’s time to get out there! It’s getting warmer. We’ll do a nice, easy 39 km that’ll have us home in time for dinner and before the street lights come on. Don’t forget your 2016 membership card; good to have lights on the bike too. Please be sure to read over the Group Ride Guidelines and the explanation of The Social Paceline. I will have the assistance of another ride leader, Jean Francois Hivon, in case we have large numbers. I look forward to seeing you there.
Tuesday A Ride | Tuesday April 19, 6:00pm
Looks like a great evening for suffering. It’s safe to ditch the winter layers, but remember the lights. Test your early season strength up 1st line hill by Eden Mills, fourth line climb (watch the sand at the bottom..) and of course the final push up Watson back to Arkell.
Sunday, April 17th, 2016 Medium Ride 11am
My apologies to those who came out for the Medium Ride last Sunday. I was unable to arrive on time to lead the ride and unable to contact another ride leader. Thank you to those who stepped in and took the reigns to lead the group. Again, sorry for my short-comings.
83 km route north through Oustic and Fergus to Elora for a brief coffee/rest stop. Then to the covered bridge and back to Guelph. The weather looks great. Remember your membership cards.
Sunday July 9th long ride 9:00 am
Heading to Conestoga lake, with a food stop in the village of Elmira. Very scenic ride will be a nice day
April 14th Thursday A/B ride | 6:00pm start
Wow, we’re finally approaching knee-warmer weather. Ride time is 6pm, with the A group heading off first. The B’s will follow–keeping a steady pace. Lights are still a good idea. Don’t forget club membership cards. Let’s ride!
April 13-Wednesday Ride: 6pm
Spring is finally springing and your bike has been patient – it’s time to get out there! Much warmer than yesterday, but still bundle worthy. We’ll do a nice, easy 37 km that’ll have us home in time for dinner and before the street lights come on. Don’t forget your 2016 membership card; good to have lights on the bike too. Please be sure to read over the Group Ride Guidelines and the explanation of The Social Paceline. Looking forward to seeing you.
April 12-Tuesday B Ride: 6pm
Its still going to be chilly so bundle up. Lights are always a good idea although we should be home in good time.
April 12 – Tuesday A Ride 6:00 p.m. (The Hammerfest)
Hammerfest enthusiasts will appreciate this simple route over a moderate, early-season distance. Weather bodes well or definitely better than last week. Lights are good, they make you visible.
CANCELLED | Sunday Long Ride | April 10 2016, 11:00am
RIDE CANCELLED. With snow in the forecast and winds picking up, the long ride will have to wait till next week (where the forecast currently calls for 19 and Sunny!). Posting this 100K route to Belfountain on the off chance that the impending forecast of snow (that’s right folks, snow..) is somehow updated to a more appropriately April forecast.. Call will be made inside of 100k to go at the Paris Roubaix. (10:00am at the latest)
April 7th Thursday A/B ride | 6:00pm start
Let’s hope the weather cooperates for this one, should be dry and just above zero. We’ll leave at 6pm, with the A group heading off first. Lights are still a good idea, as the sun will be setting in motorists eyes. Don’t forget club membership cards!
April 6th Wednesday ride 6pm | CANCELLED
RIDE CANCELLED. No real chance of the roads being rideable this evening. Hope to see everybody out next week!
April 5 – Tuesday A Ride 6:00 p.m. (The Hammerfest)
Hammerfest enthusiasts will meet at the library at 6:00pm and head out to the Guelph Lake interval loop course. This will give anyone a chance to bail if conditions are not to their liking. We do a few laps and call it a beginning. Might be cancelled but probably not.
