*Note: there is a gravel section about 1km long on the northeast section of the route. Here’s a nice ride for HF enthusiasts. Length is moderate so you can save your legs for Wednesday’s first monthly TT of 2016. And everyone should come out for that because it’s fun and well, we offer it. As for saving legs on Tuesday Night Worlds, who are we kidding? A note about that: it’s not really worlds. These are open roads and we need to keep our group tight and to the right. So, until Tuesday, be safe (and keep riding safe).

Sunday, May 15th long ride | 9:00 am start – CANCELLED
RIDE CANCELLED – Sub-zero windchill, gusting winds, and bands of light snow on the radar… wouldn’t make for a super-enjoyable day in the saddle. The afternoon’s looking somewhat better, and the latter part of this week is looking beautiful. Another day…
What the WHAT? Forecast is calling for mixed precip in low, single-digit temps and 35+ kph winds… not ideal. We’ll clearly not ride if this holds up, but should things take a turn for the rosier then we’ll head to St. George for coffee and fritters. Watch this space for a go/no-go call to be made by 8:00 am Sunday at the latest.
Thursday May 12th A/B rides | 6:30pm
Looks like the warmest day of the week but we may have some weather roll in about 5PM. It should clear by 6PM but the call will be made by 5:30 at the latest. Please remember to bring lights and maintain the the rules of social pace line.
Ride is a go.
Wednesday Ride | May 11 6:30pm
Looks like another beautiful evening for a ride! We’ll head out northward and swing back through Eden Mills and meander the quiet roads back to Arkel. Days are longer but lets still remember our lights for the ride back!
Also remember if you are you new to the group riding scene or want to familiarize with the SRCC social paceline in a small-group setting, show up early for the orientation session 6:00pm!
Tuesday B Ride, May 10, 2016, 6:30 pm
The weather is looking good for the Tuesday B ride. Don’t forget your membership card and lights. We are going to take in a few of the Guelph area hills (bergs).
May 10 – Tuesday A Ride 6:30 p.m. (The Hammerfest)
Heading west this time. Hammerfest enthusiasts will appreciate the flat parcours with the exception of the Watsonberg kicker to sort things out in the final. It’s not a race is it? No, it’s not. See ya Tuesday.
Mother’s day May 8th Long Ride | 9am
Tell your mother you love her and come spend a few hours in the saddle with us. We’ll do a slightly shorter long ride so that people can be back in good time and still be refreshed enough to join in on Mother’s day festivities. This ride takes a roundabout route to Rockwood where we can grab some refreshments on the main street at the Eramosa Cafe before heading north and looping back to Guelph. Forecast is good so far so remember the sunscreen!
Sunday May 8th 9:00am Mid Ride
Beautiful scenic ride meandering south around the escarpment with a café stop at the Flying Monkey. All this and still back in time to celebrate Mother’s day.
Thursday May 5th rides | 6:30pm
Again, please note the 6:30 start time. Easy to remember route for the A and B groups: Watson, 15th, 6th line, and 25th. Let’s try to focus on keeping a good formation on the road, rotating smoothly and tight-to-the-right. The forecast looks good!
Wednesday, May 4th ride | 6:30 pm start
NOTE the later, 6:30 pm start! Straightforward route that features a good stretch of 2nd Line, a spin through Moffat, and—for the first time on a 2016 Wednesday—the dreaded Watsonburg! Remember your lights, membership cards, and smiles… looks to be a nice night for a ride.
Tuesday B: May 3, 6:30pm
A trip out to 6th line-the easy way. Note the later start time of 6:30pm. There’s still a bit of sand on 25th side road so we’ll take it easy through there on our way out. As always, bring your lights just in case.
May 3 – Tuesday A Ride 6:30 p.m. (Later Start) HF
Something in a northwest direction for Tuesday’s Hammerfest enthusiasts. Note the new start time: 6:30 p.m.. If not, you will be very early. Sunset is 8:25 p.m. so bring lights just in case. We should be back in good time. Please bring your membership card if it’s your first club ride of the season. The intersection at Stone Road and Watson will mark the official end of the ride.
Monday mountain bike rides
New for 2016, the club will be running mountain bike group rides out at Guelph lake, led by Alex. They will run every second Monday in May, June and July. The dates will be: May 9th, May 30th (due to the long weekend the week before), June 6th, June 20th (changed to June 27th), July 4th, and July 18th. Meet at the Riverside bandshell for a 6:30pm start. Rides will only go if the trails are in good condition. These will be official club rides run at a decent speed (but nothing crazy), so club membership is required.
Sunday May 1st Medium Ride CANCELLED
Ride Cancelled.
Rain, wet roads and cool, damp unpleasantness this morning. Looking more promising this afternoon for an unofficial ride.
This 70 km loop pleasantly meanders its way towards Hespler and through Puslinch. A brief snack and pee break will be accommodated at the Sunset Villa Restaurant in Crief – bring your own snack, I don’t think the restaurant will be open when we stop there.
Sunday May 1st long ride CANCELLED
Ride cancelled. Looks like ongoing rain and general unpleasantness out there. Some die-hards might still show up, but this afternoon looks more promising!
Note the earlier 9:00am start, all Sunday rides will start at 9 for the summer (is it summer yet?), and weekday rides will change to 6:30pm. Chance of rain in the morning, so the go/no-go call will be made by 8am at the latest. We’ll head to the Forks for coffee in Belfountain, hopefully it’s not too cold. Best of luck to those racing Springbank in London!
Thursday Ride | April 28, 6:00pm
The forces of evil, or as some call it, winter is not going without a struggle, so dress accordingly for tonight’s ride. We’ll head down first line, back through Mountsberg Rd and cover both Watson climbs. Remember your lights, gloves and layer up!
