Hi – This week’s road tours are cancelled due to the club’s Family Fun CX day happening on Sunday. Why not join in the fun or check out the Discord channel for any road rides happening.
We’ll head out of town towards Hillsburgh and then continue north. The medium tour will head back to Guelph via Marsville, and the grand tour will continue on to Grand Valley. After Grand Valley, we’ll head to Fergus and meander towards and through Elora, before turning south to head back to town. Plenty options for coffee stops.

All rides need a minimum of 3 members signed up in order to officially run. If a ride has the required number of riders, but no Group Captain riding with them, that group ride will be considered cancelled. The group can decide among themselves to hold an ‘unofficial’ ride and follow the route. All group riders take it upon themselves to know the route and are responsible for their own safety.
A spin out to the east of town, through some well-known and hopefully quiet roads. Weather is looking good as I write this, so let’s hope for another warm and dry summer’s evening ride. Hope to see you all on the road.

The rides will head out towards Glen Williams and take in the gentle ascent of Winston Churchill Blvd. The medium tours will say adios here and begin the return to Guelph via Rockwood. The longer route will continue on to Forks of the Credit for more gentle climbing and with the option of a stop at the top.

This is a variation of an early season route which I enjoyed and am shamelessly copying from Ken Lasko. I’ve added a little loop to include part of Indian Trail.
I’m out of town and drafting this post on Monday for a scheduled posting on Wednesday. As I write, the weather is forecast to be nice and warm, but as experience has taught me, my bold predictions in life don’t always stand the test of time. So check back on Thursday, an hour before the ride, for any cancellation.

The weather is not looking great – cold and windy – and today’s road ride will be cancelled.
Hopefully the weather will behave and we get a road ride this Sunday. Right now, it’s showing as dry but cool and possibly a tad windy. The route will take us to Fergus then turn toward W. Montrose, where the shorter tours will head back towards home. The grand tour will continue toward Cambridge before returning to Guelph. There’s coffee options in Fergus and Elora.

The format for our Sunday Road Tours will be a little different this year: 1 meet-up time, 3 separate ride groups, leaving at intervals, a Ride Leader or Group Captain with each group.

For the Grand Tour on Sunday, we’ll reprise most of the same route I rode on my first outing last year with GCC. We’ll head down towards Ancaster (it’ll be nice to see how it looks without 6 inches of mud on the ground) and then up towards Dundas. From there, we’ll go through Waterdown which has a good café and a place to grab some water refills. Then we’ll make our way back to town via First Line and finish at Arkell.
The Medium Tour will say goodbye around the 40Km mark and head east before picking up First Line and back to town.
The weather is forecast to be slightly cooler, in the low 20’s, and should make it a pleasant temperature for riding and tackling those hills around the Dundas area.

This week’s rides will follow similar routes to last week’s cancelled ride. I chose last week’s courses mainly because I did what all good bike riders should do and limited my effort to the barest minimum required to achieve the goal of creating the needed courses, and also because there’s a chance again the weather gods may intervene. But hopefully the ride will go ahead and check back at 5:30PM for any updates.

This holiday weekend’s rides will take us out toward Winston Churchill Blvd. The medium tour will turn on 6th Line and begin the journey home. The grand tour will continue past here and head down to Glen Williams, where there’s a few options to stop for coffee, cake and refill the water bottles. And, in a departure from GCC convention, the ride will start and stop in the same spot, that spot being the East End Library.

Sunday’s longer ride will be a grand tour to Grand Valley. We’ll head up through Hillsburgh, sweep through Grand Valley, then head to Belwood for a stop and some butter tarts to fuel the journey home. From here, we’ll head home through Fergus and Elora before turning to head back to town.
The shorter tour will turn before Grand Valley, head to Belwood and then meander home from there.
