10:00 AM Start (all groups)
- The rides start and end at Fixed Gear Brewing, with a free beer at the end
- There are multiple speed/skill groups, however as some of the trails can be quite challenging, intermediate to advanced MTB skills is recommended.
- There is a rest/snack stop along the way
- Rain or shine unless truly miserable
The weekend could be raining so try to come join our ride tonight!
Our routes today will take us zig-zagging west to the hopefully still fresh tarmac on 30 Sideroad (If its chip sealed I apologize in advance), down 4th and 1st before returning back up Watson.
The A group will add in Mountsberg and Col Du Watson to ensure that they are properly tired.
** Update ** Chance of light rain before the ride. Its low enough right now and should end right around start time so I’m not cancelling but its good to be aware of it. Plan some extra time to ride over and dress appropriately.
Its Thursday, so lets ride bikes! We will be heading south to the Campbellville area via Watson before riding back up to town on 4th and then 25th. The A group will be riding a little further up 4th before heading back towards Arkell.
** Post ride some folks will be gathering at the Wooly for a social. It was originally advertised as last week but should be the last Thursday of the month. Feel free to join us even if you didn’t get a ride in tonight **
As in years past, we have once again set up a Velogames Giro d’Italia league.
No prizing for this one, just bragging rights and a chance to practice selection strategy’s before the Tour de France.
Head over to velogames.com to make a team, and then join using league code 733293918. Entries close at 10:30am on Saturday.
Forum thread for any discussions on this.
The club kit pre-order for 2019 has completed. The store will re-open at the regular pricing in the next few days. Thanks for your interest and orders.
We’re offering all our club clothing on sale for just a few weeks so now’s a great time to save some cash and get some new kit. We will be replenishing our stock in 2019 so get as much as you want. Sale expires January 24th 2019.
Join us Monday December 10th at 7PM for the SRCC Annual General Meeting in the downstairs room of Shakespeare Arms, 35 Harvard Road.
This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to be more involved with the club in 2019. Everyone is welcome, having an interest in cycling and the club are the only requirements. We will go over the year’s financials, talk about ways to continue to improve and hold elections for the 2019 Board of Directors.
If you are interested in any of the above please join us!
The 2018 SRCC Year-End Social will be taking place at NV Kitchen + Bar, 16 Wyndham Street N, at 7:00pm on Thursday, November 15th.
Please check your email for a link to RSVP by Nov. 9th.
The social is a great chance to enjoy some casual conversations and eats with your fellow members. We will be providing the food and there will be beverages available for purchase.
Starting off following the A to pick up anyone who comes off early, we will then be turning back and making our way to 4th line but without the climb. Days are getting shorter so please bring lights.
We will be keeping things on the shorter side tonight with the heat warning in effect. Following pretty closely to the Hammerfest (Tuesday A) ride if anyone is feeling like giving that a shot but wants the safety net.
Its Thursday, lets ride bikes! Its also election day so be prepared for possibly some busier spots on the way to the ride (I believe there is a polling station on Watson, but not at the library at least).
Another day another club ride! We will be winding our way east to 4th line, focusing on working as an efficient group. If you feel the need to push a bit harder please save it for the 4th line hill where you can then wait at the 4th line and 25 Side Road intersection for everyone to regroup. From there we will make our way down to 15th and then back to Watson. At the Watsonberg some riders may again head off ahead and wait for the rest of the group at the church on Arkell.
Update: Ride is officially cancelled, its a coin flip on if the rain will have cleared by 630 so I’m going to play it safe and cancel the official ride. Some braver souls may still go to the library.
Unfortunately the weather is making a ride tonight look unlikely, a call will be made by 5:00pm.
However if the weather clears up here’s the route for the day. Lights are always a good idea and especially tonight on the B ride, with the later start we will be squeezing in as much as we can before dark.
Fingers crossed we could actually have the first Sunday ride of the year!
I’ve planned a scenic route along the escarpment to kick it off. For anyone who’s still feeling a bit of the winter season in the legs there is a convenient option to turn back at 50km making it a still long but more manageable 80km ride. For everyone else we will continue on to Appleby Line for a short-cut of the southbound climb before heading down the escarpment and back up the less frequently visited 14th Side Road climb. If after Appleby your legs need a rest you could also wait at the top of 14th Side Road as we will be regrouping after the climbs.
We’ll be stopping for refreshments at The Flying Monkey Bike Shop before heading back to Guelph.
