Canceled – Sunday Medium Moderate Road Ride | Oct 16 – 11 AM

The cold temperature and wind have frightened people off this ride. I am going to go to the gravel ride. Come join me as I think it will be warmer among the trees. Your other option is to visit the Road Ride Discord Channel and organize an unofficial ride. This ride will run with the LF group until the 60 km point. More riders = more protection. Bring money for emergency and tail lights are a good idea.

Load the route on your bike computer if you have one, here’s how.

Canceled – Sunday Longer Faster Road Ride | Oct 16 – 11 AM

The cold temperature and wind have frightened people off this ride. I am going to go to the gravel ride. Come join me as I think it will be warmer among the trees. Your other option is to visit the Road Ride Discord Channel and organize an unofficial ride. We are getting into Silly Season once again. Cooler temperatures, rain when we least expect it and a lot of wind. So, dress appropriately and bring a lot of layers.

We are combining this ride with the MM group. The more the merrier and we will have more people to protect us. With a southwest wind, we will head down in that direction before it gets stronger to (hopefully) push us home. Bring money for a coffee stop, we can stop in Hespeler, and tail lights are a good idea.

CANCELLED: Sunday Longer Faster Road Ride | Sunday, September 25th – 9 AM

TOO COLD AND WET for me. May see you in the virtual world today. Please note the start time is 9:00 a.m. No / No-go call will be made by 8:00 am as the weather is not looking all that good tomorrow. We will be heading down toward Carlisle and cutting across to the west before coming back up through Hespeler. There are various options for people to make this route shorter. Bring money for a coffee stop and tail lights are a good idea.

RIDE CANCELLED | Sunday Longer Faster Road Ride | August 21 – 8AM

CANCELLED! Roads are still wet from the overnight/early morning rain and it is looking like we are in for more rain and thunderstorms. Go back to bed. Make a good breakfast. Clean the house. Bake. Knit. Zwift. Club ride is not happening.

The goal of the ride is a casual long ride with a group of like-minded people. Bring money for a coffee/treat stop (I cannot seem to plan a good coffee stop on this route but thought it might be nice to finish off at one of our sponsors, Lost Aviator, for a celebration cup at the end of the ride…so you may want to bring your Lost Aviator gift card) and tail lights are a good idea.

Sunday Longer Faster Road Ride | June 19 – 8 am

Wishing all the dads out there a Happy Father’s Day and hoping you will be able to celebrate with a ride.

Please sign up for this ride before 7 am. Due to the cooler weather, Father’s Day, and so many options, if there is no one signed up by 7 am, I will cancel the ride as I do not want to ride solo ;-). Thank you.

We will be starting out with the Medium group. It looks like the wind will be easing a bit and the temperature will increase tomorrow. I have prepared a little route that will take full advantage of the north wind as we take a straight shot down to Carlisle before heading westward through Flamborough and coming up through Cambridge. Hoping there will be some shelter in the trees during this portion. We will find ourselves some coffee in Hespler. Bring money for some sweets and tail lights are a good idea.

As Drew mentioned in his M&M post, we are going to start together. As the “Smarties”, we will go a little further east and head into Waterdown, for a Fritter or two, and skirt the edge of Milton (visit some of my old training roads before they are all gone) before climbing home. Bring money for a coffee stop and tail lights are a good idea.

Sunday Longer Faster Road Ride – May 8 @ 9:00 am

Sunday is looking like a beautiful day. There is a breeze from the east that gets stronger throughout the morning. We will meander our way to Georgetown and find ourselves touring around Glen Williams before stopping at Kit’s Cafe for a treat. After our caffeine fix, we will head over to Winston Churchill and climb out of Terra Cotta. We will continue up WC and turn to head home on 5th/50 taking it right to Rockwood. Then we will make our way home through Eden Mills. This will hopefully get us home in time to spend time with the mothers in our lives. Bring money for a coffee stop and tail lights are a good idea.

Wednesday Social Ride A/B & C – 6:00 pm start

To make up for today, it looks like tomorrow will be a perfect night for cycling. A reminder that we will be starting at the East-end Library at 6 pm.

Two routes, something a little different combining north and south routes to make something relatively “flat”.

Remember to keep riding safely.

A/B Route – 45 km

C Route – 40 km

RIDE ON…Sunday 8am A/B & C Rides

Looking at the radar map, it looks like we are in the clear for a ride. Roads should hopefully dry up and it will be a beautiful day. See you at the library!

This is the final ride before next week’s big event. Bs & Cs will stay together and do a nice 80km loop down to Kirkwall before coming up through Hespeler and then make our way back up to the Arkell church where we will say goodbye and carry on for an additional 50km. Maybe before we carry on, we can try a coffee and snack at the Union Market Square (they have good ice cream, let’s see if the coffee is any good).

Our focus will be a safe social ride. Hope to see you there!

A/B Ride

C Ride

8am Sunday Short Route (or C)

*** Please note – slight change to finish of route (as of 7:14 am) We will try going out with Gord’s B group tomorrow. Keeping in mind the C pace of 26 km/h to 28 km/h. When the B group turns left on 50, we will turn right and head west through Rockwood. If we desire, we can stop for coffee there at Goodfellows before we head south to connect with Sdrd 25 and head back to Guelph.

The focus of this ride is social Sunday ride, remembering to follow the rules of the road and respect other road users…including ourselves.

Thursday Rides @ 6:30 p.m. at the East-End Library – Hammerfest A or Flat”ish” B

This ride will take us down to the south-west end where the roads are relatively quiet and flat (compared to the escarpment where we tend to find ourselves).

You will want to bring lights as the sun is setting earlier now. Those riding A…you will definitely need to be lit up (although there are some ways you can shorten your route if you think the light will be an issue – ie Gore or Clyde are both nice options).

A Ride (aka The Hammerfest)

B/C Ride

Wednesday Social Ride A, B & C – July 17th, 6:30PM

There is a possibility of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and early evening tomorrow so a call will be made by 5:30 at the latest if the ride is a No Go. As always, please do not block the entrance doors to the library. Two routes: an A & B and a slightly shortened course for the C group (two maps below) being led by Kelly.

Let’s all remember to maintain a good cohesive social paceline on the rides with a lot of communication up and down the paceline. If people take off from the front, we do not chase them, this is a social ride where we will be working on group riding skills.

Three pace levels for Wednesday, check the new schedule for details.

Wednesday A: 28-30 km/h average
Wednesday B: 26-28 km/h average
Wednesday C: 24-26 km/h average

A/B Ride

C Ride

Wednesday A/B & C Social Ride

After the TT on Tuesday, we will probably be looking for a little bit of a social pace. Hopefully, the weather holds off as it looks like it will and we get a good ride in. It looks like the wind is even going to die down a bit.

We will roll out from the East Branch Public Library at 6:30 pm. There are two routes to choose from below: the A/B rides will take a longer route (Map #1), the C ride will be slightly shorter (Map #2).

Map #1

Map #2

If this is your first ride with SRCC, don’t worry, we do not bite. Please check our New Members area. It is also helpful for riders to ensure they are familiar with and practice the guidelines posted in Group Ride Guidelines and the Safety and Skills pages. Charge your lights, pump up your tires, upload the route to your Garmin Edge or Wahoo Elemnt and we will see you there!

Sunday 8am – AB 130k

Let’s look at the positive to all this rain, surely the roads will be clear for tomorrow’s ride. A long route has been planned that will take us down toward St George, above Dundas, up through Waterdown and up Cedar Springs home. We will stop in Waterdown and the Copper Kettle for a coffee and a snack.

If anyone wants to shorten this route there is the option to turn off on Safari Road to head home and if anyone is brave enough to make it longer, you can do a hill repeat on Sydenham Road and go down to Dundas. Or head toward Milton and go climb Rattlesnake.

A big thank you to Wilfred for this beautiful route. We rode it last year and loved it. Very scenic. I keep going back to it.

Sunday A/B 95 km Mother’s Day Loop – 8 AM

In all honesty, it looks like Saturday is the better cycling day this weekend. Although TWN keeps changing every time I check it, it is going to be cold, damp and windy all day Sunday…it is Mother’s Day anyhow so let’s keep the ride a little shorter.

This route is for both the A Group, who will be averaging 33 km/h or more and will have the safety net of the B Group behind them averaging 29 to 31 km/h.

There is no official coffee stop for this loop as it will be quite chilly and stopping only makes it worse as you warm up and then feel more chilled once you start riding again; however, if people really want, there is the option to take a detour to either the Brown Dog in Waterdown at 57 km or the Flying Monkey in Campbellville at 77 km.
